PARKLAND, FL, UNITED STATES, August 31, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The official public Memorial to honor the 17 victims who were taken from their families and our community on February 14, 2018 in the Parkland school massacre has moved into the engineering phase of building the Memorial.

East Coast Builders of Florida is completing the engineering drawings for the Memorial as an in-kind donation to the Parkland 17 Foundation. The Memorial is expected to be completed by February 2028, which marks the solemn 10th anniversary of the day 17 beautiful souls lost their lives, more were injured, and countless others and communities were forever changed.

“We are so grateful to East Coast Builders who stepped up to bring us to the next step in our building journey,” said Vice Chairman of the Parkland 17 Memorial Foundation Tony Montalto, father of Gina Montalto and liaison to the victims’ families.

The Parkland 17 Memorial Foundation, a 501(c)(3) Florida not-for-profit corporation, is raising funds to build and maintain the only public Memorial for those who were taken all too soon: Alyssa Alhadeff, Scott Beigel, Martin Duque Anguiano, Jr., Nicholas Dworet, Aaron Feis, Jaime Guttenberg, Chris Hixon, Luke Hoyer, Cara Loughran, Gina Montalto, Joaquin Oliver, Alaina Petty, Meadow Pollack, Helena Ramsay, Alex Schachter, Carmen Schentrup and Peter Wang.

“The completion of the engineering plans is a major milestone for us as we move forward to erecting this Memorial,” said Foundation Chair Michael Moser. “What this means is that we need the community and businesses to find it in their hearts to continue supporting these families and helping our community heal by making a donation to build the Memorial.”

The Memorial will be located within a quiet, serene 150-acre preserve that borders Coral Springs and Parkland to unite the two affected communities. Corporations, businesses, foundations and the public can make tax exempt donations to help build the Memorial at www.Parkland17.org.
