Saudi Tech Conference Celebrates Kingdom's First AI Infrastructure Deployment in Newly-Opened Syria

Ratified on the LEAP stage in Riyadh, the aixplain and Syriatel partnership signals Saudi Arabia's emergence as an exporter of sovereign AI

RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA, August 31, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Saudi Arabia's rise as a builder of artificial intelligence reached a defining moment today at LEAP, the Kingdom's flagship technology conference, as aixplain and Syriatel Telecom S.A. ratified a Memorandum of Joint Recognition celebrating the first Saudi AI infrastructure deployment in the Syrian Arab Republic.

For years, nations have imported their intelligence infrastructure from a handful of distant providers. Today, the Kingdom joins the ranks of AI-exporting nations, and it does so in a distinctly Saudi way: extending technology to a neighbor in renewal, in the neighbor's own language, and on terms that leave freedom and ownership in local hands.

aixplain, the enterprise agentic AI platform built with Arabic-first capability and sovereign deployment at its core, is the company carrying that milestone. Its infrastructure will power AI services across Syriatel's network, reaching more than twelve million subscribers as Syria enters a new era of openness and reconstruction.

"Syria's renewal will be authored by its citizens, powered by the region, and owned by its people," said Dr. Hassan Sawaf, Founder and CEO of aixplain. "I stand today between two homelands. Saudi Arabia gave this technology its ambition and its wings, and Syria gave me mine. To bring the Kingdom's first AI infrastructure to the country of my origin, alongside Syriatel and its two decades of devotion to the Syrian people, is an honor of my career."

"Syriatel is uniquely positioned to be Syria’s technology bridge by enabling the nation's digital economy and driving its transformation from the present into the future,” said Yasir Kahf, Chief Executive Officer of Syriatel. "AI is the platform for that journey, and aixplain is the ideal partner to kickstart this journey,"

From Vision to Export

The ratification at LEAP places the partnership within the larger story the conference exists to tell: a Kingdom whose Vision 2030 has transformed it from a technology consumer into a technology producer, and now into a technology exporter. At the same conference, aixplain launched Koder, a Saudi first in sovereign AI technology deployed globally and part of the region's growing sovereign AI ecosystem.
